Sluggers Early Years! This was a big part of the Sluggers softball team roots and softball history. We like to think of them as the, 'Glory Years of Softball' at the old Hamilton Softball League. The ball field was located on the Hamilton Air Force Base just outside of Novato, California.

The league was formed back in 1980 and was called the A.A. Hamilton League, named after the Adolph's Animals softball team. The founders of the new league. The Animals also won the first league title in the opening season. The name was changed to 'The Hamilton Softball League' in 1982. The league lasted until the 1984 season. (No Records Yet for 1984)

The History Behind The League. We worked the infield and chalked our own lines. We cut the grass and brought in dirt for the infield. We also watered the grass during the week! We painted the bleachers, ran the snack shack, had our own umpires, we even ran our own tournaments. Why did we do all this? We did it all just to play softball ball in a league all our own! With our own rules and to get out of the Novato parks & recreation league. Those were the days!

At the end of the 2004 season, the Sluggers had 12 players playing on the softball team that played during that time! We're 'Softball Legends' in our own right. It got better each year! Until the end.....
