Sluggers Softball Memories 1978-2004
Going. Going. Gone! Coach Dave and long time friend, Bill Cline, (team sponsor) retired from the game of softball at the end of 2004. 26 years after their first game back in 1978. The last of the original Sluggers. The Sluggers name has also been retired.
Coach Dave packed his bags and
moved to another town about 240 miles away. The knees say NO to the Senior league! The
ex-skipper hangs'em up!
Bill is now bowling 3-4 nights a week and always looking for a bowling tournament on the weekends. Bill has two perfect games to his credit.
Special Times The 40 & Over softball league was a special time with special players and some great memories! Beating the Kids in the playoffs. Going head to head with other team managers and the BBQ's at the park.
Thanks for sticking by me all these years and playing Sluggers Softball the way it should be played. You're the greatest bunch of guys that a manager could only hope for!!
Good luck to all of you during the 2005 softball season and beyond. The Skipper of the Once Mighty Sluggers, Coach Dave, #00
Sluggers Team Facts Sluggers won 267 games and lost 99, that left the Sluggers 168 games over .500 From the summer of 1991 to the summer of 1997, it was either 1st or second place and nothin else for the Sluggers The Sluggers defense was the teams trade mark over the years (See Below) During the 1994 softball season, the 17-3 Sluggers defense was at its best. The defense only gave up 84 runs in 20 league games, (4 shutouts help) That's 4 runs a game! (with 4 left over) Out scored their opponents by a score of 229-84 Sluggers won League Championships in 3 different decades 1982, (20-4) 1992, (20-4) 2002, (23-3) The Sluggers never lost a game because of a forfeit The only tie game in Sluggers history was in 1995, 23-23 vs CRF
