Welcome to The George Shawver Memorial Softball Tournament Tribute Section. This will be a 'Tribute' section for anyone that would like to pay tribute to George in their own words. Have a story. A special game. A favorite memory. Anything you would like to say and share with others.
This is to one of my closest friends, and the best that I ever played with. Without being there, he managed to bring us "ALL" closer together. Something special happened to all of us this weekend, even for those who had never met him, you could feel it! I think that George's biggest fault, was that he could not accept a compliment when due it, but to me, it was also his finest trait. "You the Man", was his favorite phrase, while trying to avoid the spotlight. What I did (along with help from others) was from the heart, in remembering all that he meant to me. We'll make it better next year!

In honor and respect of George Shawver. I find some words come easy and some words are hard to write. The best way for me to honor George is by this section of the Sluggers website. I'm giving any and all a place to share their memories. I can say this, "George is the all-time MVP (P stands for Person) that ever played on a Sluggers softball team". The Sluggers didn't only lose a teammate and friend that day, we lost the BEST 3rd baseman that ever played the hot-corner in our history. George will always be remember as a 'Slugger' and Your LEGEND will live on!

It's been almost a year but yet it seems like yesterday that you were taken from us. Your constantly in our thoughts and we miss you more than words can express. You were the best son, brother, uncle, brother-in law and father anyone could hope for. You will forever be in our thoughts. We love and miss you. Your family.

Thanks to all the volunteers that gave their time during the tournament. The umpires, (Dennis & Bill) the scorekeepers, (Ashley & Jeff) and the players that did the fields before and in between the games! (Bob and his jeep)
